What’s your tune?

I love listening to music and finding new music to listen to. When I write a post about music I want to find out what your listening to so I decided to make a survey about music! Finding new music is like finding a new best friend. It sticks with you through thick and thin and is always there to lean on. So, what’s your tune?

What’s your tune?

To Blog or Not to Blog…

That is the question.

Ah, blogging. The true way to tell people what you think. If you’re using a pen and paper you can only show the people in your family and the people in your town but blogging makes it so you can tell the world what you’re thinking. I’ve been blogging for about 6 or 7 months and it’s added something to how I write.

Time to compare

I think that if I had the choice between paper and pencil VS. Blogging I would choose blogging. Blogging is a lot easier for me because typing does not take that long and its like playing the piano. Your fingers have to move in the same way. The sound of your fingers against the keyboard and the smooth flow of your hands moving across the keys…you can’t get that from a pencil and paper. Sitting in a class room listening to the teacher talk and talk about language arts and telling us what writing should be from some book compared to just getting to write and let people know what you think all over the world is so much better. Getting to learn in a different way and learn from other students and hear there views on things is (I find) more interesting because its more than just what a book has to teach you. It’s someone else talking.

The Reasoning

I write. I write a lot and to be able to write freely about something that I might be shy about is great. If people like it that’s great, but if they don’t like it its better then standing up in front of a class and have people laugh or point or snicker. You get to connect to people that you would have never met otherwise and you can find out what other classmates are really like. You can make friends with someone in your class that you might not have ever talked to. If you go and read their blog you get to know what their like and who they are.

I could talk forever about how great blogging is but instead if you want to know what it’s like to blog then you should find out for yourself.

7 Things You Don’t Know About Me

I was challenged by my blogging friend Amanda to write 7 random things about me. I wrote one of these before but I think its a good idea to re-write them so you can learn some new things about me! So…here are my 7 facts about me!

  1. I am a Ukrainian Dancer and have been with the group here in the Comox Valley for 8 years. I have very good friends in that group including my Best Friend Inanna.
  2. I like rollercoaster but at the beginging I get really scared about what’s gonna happen when it starts and then after I want to go again and again and again.
  3. When I was 4 I feel off the arm on my sofa and cracked the back of my head open on a wooden truck with a really sharp edge. I was rushed to the hospital and had to get 8 stitchs.
  4. When I was 9 I was chasing my dog at my Nana’s house and I tripped over the toe of my pajama pants (yes it was the middle of the afternoon and I was wearing pj pants) and I fell and my wrist was really hurting. During the next week my wrist was still really hurting so we went to the docters who, sent us to the hospitable, where I got an x-ray and it turns out I fractured my wrist.
  5. I write songs. Lyrics and music.
  6. I tend to get sick alot.
  7. I am 6″ and my shoe size is 11 mens, 12 1/2 womens.

Those are my 7 random things about me. I am going to challenge:

Today we had an Assembly in for all of the intermediate classes (4-7). The Mark R Isfeld (the high school that is right next to our school) band came to our school to introduce us tot he different instruments that we would get to play in grade 8 when we get to high school. Our teacher Ms.Smith was called up and the guys in the mark isfeld choir sang to her (my girl). It was really funny but they sang really well. When we got back to class Ms.Smith told us we were going to write a post about what instrument we want to play when you get to high school.

I would like to play either the drums, the clarinet or the electric guitar. I think that the intrument I want to play the most of those three would be the clarinet because its such a beautiful instrument and it can really play a melody. Another reason I want to play the clarinet is because my sister used to play the clarinet when she was in high school and me and my sister are pretty close becasue we don’t get to see each other alot and we still have the one she used to use. When I get to high school its going to be so much fun to get to play in the band and take differant electives.

In class we have been learning about something called the alert program. It is all about regulating your self! Here is the power point Brayden and I made!

Happy Valentines Day!

Saturday Febuary 14th Valentines Day 2009!!

Every year Febuary 14th People all over the world celebrate love. The History of Valentines Day is unclear as there are about 3 or 4 differant things that could have happened. The one that I learned was St. Valentine was put into jail and on the day of his exicusion (feb. 14th) the children made little cards and gave them to St. Valentine through the bars on his cell. The history may not be clear but the meaning of Valentines Day now is very clear.

We use Valentines Day to celebrate the ones we love and how much we love them. We are given a chance on this one day to do something truly special for that one in your heart or to celebrate with family and friends. On this day its all about how much you care.

This year my parents went on vacation for two weeks and part of that two weeks was Valentines day so I didn’t get to spend the day with them. This year My Best Friend Inanna Invited me to her birthday which was on Valentines Day! I got to spend the day with a people that are very close to me and are almost family. I had lots of fun and I really enjoyed Valentines Day.

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Valentines day and I hope to hear from you soon!

Do you have one place where you go to escape all the troubles in your life? A place were you go just to take a break and breathe? Well I have two of those places and I would like to tell you about them.

Place #1:

My first place is a beautiful creek behind my house. I live in a small neighborhood with lots of kids the only thing is only 3 of the kids are my age the rest of them are younger or older and not just by one or two years. My youngest brother is two years older them me and the other one is 6 years older then me and not to forget my sister who is 8 years older then me. In my house if you don’t have a place to escape to you might not make it to long so when I get the chance I like to go to the little forest area right by my house and it has a creek running through it. Its a nice quite place and it gives me a chance to think about things and just enjoy everything that around me instead of hearing the screaming and yelling and loud banging music that my hose usually has. It is my favorite place to go…in town that is.

Place #2:

Don’t you just love the feel of sun warming your back? The feel of sand in between you toes? Well I love it and every summer I get a chance to enjoy it…with out the big crowds of a beach. In Beautiful Manitoba there is a little place called Rossburn. About an hour away is my favorite place. Its called Seech lake. On one side its a camp ground and RV site but that’s not were I go. On the other side of the lake is were I go every summer for about two weeks. That side of the lake (used to be) is called Seech Lake Resort… My family owns and the property. Ever since my mom was a kid she has been going there. She even lived there with all of her family for (2 years?) and after that lived there every summer. There is the main cabin and then an old school that we have renovated and now use it to stay in for the time we are there. There are some old cabins no one uses (an owl used to live in one it was scary) and then there is the old school house. It has a gym floor and a stage and it even has a piano in it but we don’t use it for that anymore. The windows and broken and covered up with wood and there aren’t enough lights inside so we use it to store everything like the beach toys and the water skies and wake board. Me and my cousin’s get the chance to really enjoy our summers here and if you have a fight with one of them or just need to get away there is always some were you can go just to breathe. The lake has beautiful clear waters and you can go snorkeling, rock diving or swim out to the trampolin we have on the water (its called a spalsh island and we always go and hang out on it). You can just lie on the sand and look up at the prarie sky and not worry about having anyone you don’t know there because its only our family. I love going to the lake it my favorite place on earth.

Now you know about my favorite special places and I can’t wait to hear about yours!

A Very Sad Story

Yes this is more sad then the time my cat ran away.

Just a little while ago something very sad happened. It hit the Comox Valley with no warning. The Comox Valley’s MLA had a heart attack and died.

The head line was on the front page of the news paper. Stan Hagen was gone. He had a mager heart attack and he did not make it. His family is probably shocked and heart broken. He was a great man who did so much for our community working as the representative for sports and activeities for the valley and then become our MLA and doing many other things as well. I have only met him about 2 or 3 times but I still am upset about it and I feel for his family. My parents knew him and they were saying that it was so out of no where and very unexpected. I hope that his family recovers soon and I’m sure we will all miss him.

R.I.P. Stan Hagen

In My Future I See…

In class we are getting the chance to explore the wonderful world of robots. Mr.Grey is a work experience teacher who used to work as a robotics teacher. He came into our class and brought some robots with him. One of the robots was called a Vexplorer and another robot that could pick up a tennis ball (I don’t know what it was called). Everyone got a chance to use the robots and drive them around. When I got a chance to drive one I picked up a juice box and drove over to the bucket we put them in to recycle. I dropped it in and handed the remote to someone else. I was so happy and it was so cool to be able to drive it and accomplish that. Getting to see the robots and drive them was so much fun. Mr.Grey also told us that here in the Comox valley there was going to be a robotics competition at Lake Trail High School. As soon as he said we were invited I wanted to go. I have always been really interested in robotics and science so this just made my week.

Robots are so interesting especially the way they move. They can spin, advance, reverse, move up and down and open and close a claw(if there is one).  When the robots came in we were spilt into different groups to use different robots. My group went into a different room and when we walked in there was a TV set up and you could see outside. We realized after a moment that it was a camera mounted on the robot. each of us got a chance to use the robot and pick up a juice box and put it back in the recycling bin.

One great thing about this experience is we are being given the chance to work with something called “Lego Mind storms” which is a set of different parts that we can put together to make a robot and program it to do different things. Our old princible Mr. Berry (he now works at the school board office here in town) is buying our class two sets of them!!! I am really excited to get the chance to work with these robots and learn how to program and build them. I am really looking forward to working on this.
